Marking Matariki Movement … a free community dance

  • 3A Ranfurly Street Timaru, Canterbury, 7910 New Zealand (map)

Marking Matariki Movement … all welcome

Matariki is a time to remember those who have passed, celebrate the present and plan for the future.

This year's theme is  Matariki Heri Kai - The feast of Matariki,” in reference to the proverb “Matariki whetū heri kai” meaning “Matariki, the bringer of food”.

(Professor Rangi Mātāmua)

Marking Matariki Movement is a creative movement workshop, where participants are invited to bring themselves and perhaps someone from a different generation, a friend or family member, to dance together and exchange stories. By connecting to Matariki in this way, friends and whānau can embrace the letting go of the past year and awaken ready for the year ahead.

One hour of movement and one hour of tea, kai and conversation.
