Matariki is a time to remember those who have passed, celebrate the present and plan for the future. This year it coincides with Winter Solstice, the middle of winter and a time of reflection before the light returns.
This is a free community dance where participants are invited to bring themselves and perhaps someone from a different generation, a friend or family member, to dance together and exchange stories. By connecting to Winter Solstice & Matariki in this way, friends and whānau can embrace the letting go of the past year and awaken ready for the year ahead.
One hour of movement and one hour of tea, kai and conversation.
